I was born and raised in this community, so I am extremely proud to teach math at Edmonson County Middle School. I am also proud to raise my family in this small town. I love my family and feel very blessed to have a wife and two wonderful children. Ethan is an junior at ECHS and Kennedy is a 4th grader at South Edmonson Elementary School. My wife, Dee Dee, is the technology integration specialist for Grayson County Schools. We have been married for 24 years in September.
This is my fourth year teaching and the first year at ECMS. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Western Kentucky University in 2001 and spent about 14 years in the banking and insurance industry. At 40 years old, I made the decision to become a middle school math teacher and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I earned a Master of Arts degree in Teaching from the University of the Cumberlands in 2015 and plan to continue my education even further.
I am a lifelong learner who believes in keeping a positive attitude and a growth mindset. I hope to pass these traits on to my students because I believe that perseverance, positivity, and a growth mindset is more important in life that math or any other academic subject. Without these three things, all the knowledge in the world is useless. With these three traits, an average student can succeed in life. With perseverance, positivity, growth mindset, AND a good education, anything is possible!
